Nkemdiche
Back In Oxford
For the
second time in the past 4 months, Robert Nkemdiche, the nation’s consensus
number one high school football player, was back in Oxford. This was his second
time he has driven the seven hour trek from his hometown Grayson, Georgia, to
come and take an unofficial visit and to see his older brother Denzel.
The 6’5,270
pound monster roamed the sidelines of the Red and Blue game on Saturday. Not
only is he easily noticed, but with Ole Miss remaining in Robert’s top 5
schools, he is already popular amongst the fans.
Many wonder how Ole Miss is even in contention with Robert’s
other top schools (Alabama, LSU, Clemson, and Georgia) after last year’s disastrous
2-10 season? The answer lies in the fact that Robert’s parents have made it
clear on many occations that they wish their sons would play on the same team.
Denzel,
a redshirt freshman at Ole Miss, said,”Yea, I would love to play with my little
brother, we’re real close.”
While
this is true, will family ties be enough for first year coach Hugh Freeze to
pull off one of the biggest recruiting upsets ever? Only time will tell.
Robert
was supposed to make his announcement on which college he will attend next year
on May 18, but now he has pushed it back all the way to the Under Armour game
sometime next Febuary. Until then all Ole Miss fans can do is wait.
