“Oxford, MS Celebrating 175 years with the 17th
Annual Double Decker Art Festival”
For years
the City of Oxford has been celebrating in the
spring with the Double Decker Art Festival. The festival brings together visitors and residents for a weekend
long celebration of music, food, and the arts.
Double Decker takes place
mostly in the square where you will find tents set up with different vendors in
each tent. All the Oxford food you know
and love set up tents all throughout the square selling their most famous
dishes. The cute clothing stores in the
square also set up tents with their newest spring items. Different people throughout the city come to
sell and showcase their original art items.
Oxford is well known for
its culture, thriving commerce, and small town character. All those characteristics you know and love
about Oxford are displayed throughout the weekend. “Double Decker is Oxford’s own little weekend
of fun. The festival reminds me of the
beautiful, well brought up, small town that I am apart of,” said Mary
Mills. Mills has been a resident of Oxford
her whole life and has now started her own family here as well. She also said that Double Decker is something
that you can only get in a town like Oxford.
The festival kicks off Friday, April 27th with a concert in
the square. Saturday, April
28th will feature art vendors, food vendors, the children’s Square Fair,
and music throughout the day. Also on
Saturday Oxford’s famous Double Decker buses will be giving “Double Decker Road
Rides.” The festival is free on Saturday
and begins at 10am and goes to 8pm. For
