Double Decker Weekend
Oxford Mississippi’s 17th
annual Double Decker Art Festival is scheduled for April 27-28, 2012. This
year’s festival will host Ole Miss’s head football coach Freeze and the new AD,
Ross Bjork. Freeze and Bjork will be at the Caterpillar stage around 3:30p.m.
on Saturday 28.
Double Decker is a festival Oxford
MS holds every year to celebrate arts, food and music. The festival got the
name ‘double decker’ from Oxford’s authentic double decker bus imported from
England in 1994. Double Decker brings together local residents and visitors
from all over the state for two days on Oxford MS’s Courthouse Square.
Friday, April 27 gates open at 6p.m. and
kicks off a concert on the square. Tickets are required for Friday nights line
up featuring: Charlie
Mars, Deertick and Iron and Wine. General admission is 18 dollars and
preordered tickets online are $11.77 plus an additional fee of $1.64.
Saturday’s
events will begin at 10a.m and goes through the night til 8p.m. The festival
will feature art vendors, food venders, the children’s Square Fair, and music. Events
for Saturday will be free all day.
This year’s
festival will also provide their double decker road rides beginning at 9 a.m.
from the whirlpool parking lot. Double Decker is a great two-day weekend event.
Kids and adults of all ages are welcome. Come out and join Oxford MS in the 17th
annual Double Decker art festivial.
