“New Organization on
the Ole Miss Campus”
Ghostlight Repertory Theatre is a student
organized, student run, student lead, organization on campus founded by the
students of the Ole Miss Theatre Department. The Ole Miss Theatre department
currently produces two to five shows a semester and it is common for upperclassman
to be cast over equally talented lowerclassman, the theatre faculty
acknowledged this truth as unfair. Therefore agreed to help supervise and give
funds to the organization for a year, after the board of Ghostlight get their
feet off the ground they are on their own.
The current interim board is holding the
organizations first fundraiser this Friday. “A night of Sketch Comedy/ Miscast
Musical” is something the students are volunteering to perform in. The First
portion of the night will be a combination of skit comedy and improve the
second half of the night will be a “miscast musical” in which the students plan
to sing a song that is would not fit their personality in a humorous way. For
example Nick Bredosky, a football player in high school, plans on singing Part
of Your World from The Little Mermaid.
“A night of Sketch Comedy/ Miscast Musical” will
be in Meek on Friday, April 13th at 10 o’clock. Tickets are five
dollars, there is a table in the Union set up selling the tickets as well as
promoting the organization and offering membership application forms.
Ghostlight Repertory Theatre was founded for the students by the students; if
the club is successful it will open up many doors and give other non-theatre
majors opportunities to get involved and not feel the pressure of any faculty.
