Fight for your Right To Derby

Last weekend was the conclusion to Sigma Chi’s philanthropy. It ended with a day of games and dance competition. The sorority that came out with a win at the end was Kappa Delta. Their theme that got them the win was Fight for Your Right to Derby.

Kappa Delta placed first in the penny drop, blood drive, dance competition, and won queen. This was Kappa Delta’s first win in years. Kappa Delta’s senior pledge class led them to the victory.

Meredith Monroe, freshman Kappa Delta, says “I was so excited when they announced that we won. I really had no idea who was going to win. I knew we had won the penny drop and blood drive but the Saturday events counted just as much.”

Jaclyn Frieson, freshman Kappa Delta, states, “The seniors did a great job organizing the whole week. You could tell on Saturday that they put a lot of effort into this week, and this win is all because of them. Ya, the practices were hot and tiring, but at the end it all paid off with a victory.”

The ending results were third place Tri Delta, second place Delta Gamma, and first Kappa Delta. It was a close completion, and it all came down to Saturday.

The ladies of Kappa Delta fought for their right to derby and came out of the week of giving and completion with a victory.
