 For
the past while, the University of Mississippi has been trying to pass a
campus smoking ban. If one is caught smoking on campus, it could result
in receiving a fine of $25. Ole Miss Writing Professor, James Rozier
comments, “I am going to have a hard time trying to follow these rules
if this passes, it’ s hard for me not to smoke before my classes, I
smoke quite a bit already. I’ll have to sit in a certain area just to
have a cigarette? Seems a little out of my way.”

 Freshman
Art major, Madison DeMoss disagrees and states that, “I will be very
happy. As a nonsmoker, I hate being around the smell of smoke and
walking past it all of the time. I will be happy for this to go away.”
 With
the ban to smoke on the airplane, in restaurants, and in other places,
it is reasonable to slowly allow this movement on campus. It will
provide a healthier lifestyle for many students and teachers and may
save them in the long run. Some believe that all of these fines are just
another way for Ole Miss to receive their money, just like the awful
and unfair parking tickets.
 It
is pretty split between agreeing and disagreeing when it comes to this
band, and that is not much of a surprise. Being away from secondhand
smoke will keep Ole Miss a healthy and beautiful environment that it is.
